A wounded tribal protester ready to die for the country

"I was ready to sacrifice my life to protect my home from the clutch of Asia Energy. I did not have any grief if the bullet pierces my chest and if I die", a Phulbari protester told BDNEWS on Wednesday lying in a bed at the Upazila Health Complex.

Phulbari (Dinajpur), Aug 30 (BDNEWS) – "I was ready to sacrifice my life to protect my home from the clutch of Asia Energy. I did not have any grief if the bullet pierces my chest and if I die", a Phulbari protester told BDNEWS on Wednesday lying in a bed at the Upazila Health Complex.

The comment came from Ganesh Karmaker (36), a member of the Saotal community, who had bullet wounds in his leg during Saturday's police firing on the protesters demanding withdrawal of Asia Energy from Phulbari.

Phulbari, Dinajpur, August 30 (BDNEWS) – Authorities accepted all demands of the protesters over the Phulbari coalmine issue after hours of hectic negotiation on Wednesday, the area's chief government administrator said.

Tahsinur Rahman, Deputy Commissioners of Dinajpur, read out the agreement between the authorities and the protesters in presence of Rajshahi City Mayor Mizanur Raman Minu and State Minister for Food and Disaster Management Asadul Habib Dulu.
